Alholmen Industrial Park is a strong concentration of eight industrial and 53 service companies, employing almost 2,000 people directly – the impact on the surrounding region increases the number of jobs by hundreds more. AIP is also the first good summer job location for many young people. The companies in the region employ more than 300 young people annually for summer jobs.
The region’s turnover is over 1 300 million euro, of which exports account for almost 80 percent. Over the past 25 years, with the strong growth in AIP, the city of Pietarsaari has developed from a traditional forestry city into a diversified strong concentration of export companies, where the operators work in good cooperation and assist each other in finding new synergies.
