Clear increase in clean energy between 2020 and 2025

In January 2026, the AIP board decided that the industrial area should jointly begin monitoring the development of the share of clean energy per MWh. The chosen indicator is based on data reported by the companies and covers both direct emissions (Scope 1) and purchased energy (Scope 2).

Strong positive development

The results show a clear and consistent increase in clean energy among industries in Alholmen.

The average share of clean energy per MWh increased from 66.67% in 2020 to 89.11% in 2025.

The indicator shows the share of clean energy per MWh, but not the total energy volumes of the industries. The comparison includes UPM, Alholmen Såg, Billerud, Walki, OSTP, Baltic Yachts, Nautor Swan and NCE.

Energy-intensive industries already showed high figures in 2020 but have continued to strengthen their shares. Others have made even greater percentage improvements over the past five years. Several industries currently report 100% clean energy.

The significant increase in clean energy shows that industries are actively working on energy transition, and the indicator demonstrates the positive change and circular development taking place in the industrial park.

The gathering of information and compilation of results is part of the ACEP project.
